Colleen Murray

I’m an operations leader, by way of human resources, who’s really into all things business, people, and systems. After two decades in the professional services industry, I honed my focus on client service, quality, and continuous learning. My work experience has been enhanced by an MBA, a PROSCI change management certificate, teaching at Portland State University, HR certifications, and years of non-profit board membership.

Specific areas of expertise include professional/technical service industries, process improvement—including review of corporate functions (IA, Marketing, HR, IT, etc.), HR and recruiting management, and executive operations.

Personal passions include wildlife conservation, carbon reduction, science, psychology, dance, health, wellness, and having fun. Interests include outdoor activities like cycling, kayaking, golfing (I’m now a leftie!), hiking, and camping. I’m in three book clubs and sing in a community choir called Rock Voices.

Values

  • Consider how people will feel, recognize bias, look for disparate impact, be anti-racist, and minimize impact on the natural environment and its inhabitants.

  • Show vulnerability when mistakes are made, be silly or fun when the mood strikes, and demonstrate a range of emotions while maintaining appropriate boundaries and professional expectations.

  • Say what may be hard to hear with helpful framing and positive intent.

  • Uphold the behaviors of self-review, double-checking, leveraging experts, and a preference for primary source material.

  • Believe in others and their ability to change, grow, and improve. If a job isn’t a good fit, support the person and their journey to a new opportunity.

  • Look for opportunity windows to implement new ideas, change processes, and pilot different approaches. Make project and change management plans for successful outcomes.
